About Cégep@distance

Cégep@distance opened its virtual doors on April 1st 1991. Cégep@distance is one of three major players in public distance education in Quebéc, alongside TÉLUQ who serves the university community and SOFAD who intervenes at the secondary school level. Cégep@distance is mandated by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport to offer continuous intake college-level distance education for credit to the people of Quebec.

Distance education is a training medium that allows anyone with time or location constraints to continue to develop their skills outside the traditional in-person, professor-led classroom model. Distance education allows a great amount of latitude but requires a great deal of self-discipline. Each student is matched with a tutor that provides personalized educational support by phone or e-mail. Learning progress is evaluated with assignments and a final exam. This exam is invigilated in any one of the 50 learning establishments across Quebec that has partnered with Cégep@distance to provide this service.
